What exact activity, role or purpose qualifies?

This route is temporary residence for the purpose of special activity, specifically lecturing activity, granted to a third-country national who is not an entrepreneur.

The lecturing purpose is proven by a confirmation from a school or other educational institution about the performance of lecturing activities.

Can the person receive salary, pocket money, accommodation, meals or reimbursement? Can they undertake other work?

Means of subsistence are proven by a bank account balance statement in the applicant's name or a confirmation from a statutory body of a legal entity on the applicant's financial and material means of subsistence during residence. The police department cancels temporary residence if the holder performs a different activity than the one for which it was granted, unless one of the listed provisions provides otherwise. How long can they stay, can they change host/activity, can family accompany, and can the status be extended?

Temporary residence for special activities is granted for the period necessary to achieve the purpose, maximum two years, and is not required for up to 90 days if the short-stay conditions are met and the Art 111 par. 2(a) obligation is fulfilled. It may be renewed, even repeatedly, if the purpose persists and conditions continue to be met; a change of purpose requires an application treated as a new application. Family members of the holder may be granted temporary residence for family reunification. The official source does not state whether the host institution can be changed.
