1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using wheretoemigrate.io (the "Site"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Site. wheretoemigrate.io. Serving users globally.

2. Description of Services

wheretoemigrate.io provides an online emigration assessment tool that matches users with potential destination countries based on self-reported data, and optional paid reports with detailed analysis. We also publish free educational blog content about emigration topics.

3. Not Legal, Immigration, Tax, or Financial Advice

The information provided through our assessment tool, reports, and blog content is for general informational purposes only. It does not constitute legal, immigration, tax, or financial advice. See our Disclaimer for full details.

We are not a law firm, immigration consultancy, or regulated financial advisor. We do not submit visa applications, represent you before any government authority, or guarantee any immigration outcome. Always consult qualified professionals before making immigration decisions.

4. User Responsibilities

When using our assessment tool, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate and truthful information about your personal circumstances
  • Understand that the accuracy of your results depends on the accuracy of your inputs
  • Not use the Site for any unlawful purpose
  • Not attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or copy our assessment algorithm or content
  • Not resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit our reports or content without written permission

5. Paid Reports and Digital Products

Pricing: Report prices are displayed on our Pricing page and are charged in EUR. Prices include applicable VAT where required.

VAT and taxes: Prices displayed are inclusive of applicable VAT for EU customers. If you are located outside the EU, you are responsible for any local taxes, import duties, or withholding taxes that may apply in your jurisdiction. Stripe, our payment processor, may collect and remit VAT on our behalf where required.

Delivery: Reports and guides are digital products delivered electronically via email immediately after payment processing. You will receive a download link to your email address within minutes of a successful payment. Delivery is deemed complete once the email containing your download link has been sent to the email address you provided at checkout. We are not responsible for delivery failures caused by incorrect email addresses, spam filters, or email provider issues on your end.

As-is delivery: All reports and guides are provided "as is" based on the data you supplied during the assessment and publicly available immigration data at the time of generation. We do not guarantee that any specific programme, visa route, or eligibility criterion will remain unchanged after your report is generated.

Chargebacks: We maintain detailed records of all transactions, including consent acknowledgement, IP address, delivery confirmation, and download activity. If you initiate a chargeback or payment dispute without first contacting us, we will contest the dispute using these records. Fraudulent chargebacks may result in account termination and referral to fraud prevention services. 5A. No Refunds

No refunds: All sales are final. Reports are personalised digital products generated and delivered immediately upon purchase. By completing your purchase, you expressly consent to immediate delivery and acknowledge that you lose your right of withdrawal under the EU Consumer Rights Directive (Directive 2011/83/EU, Article 16(m)).

5B. Correction Policy

If you believe the report contains a factual error — defined as objectively incorrect data such as a wrong visa fee, incorrect income threshold, or outdated programme name that can be verified against official government sources — contact us within 14 days. We will verify the error and, if confirmed, re-generate the corrected report at no extra charge. Disagreements with our scoring methodology, country rankings, or subjective assessments do not qualify as factual errors.

6. Intellectual Property and Licence

All content on the Site — including text, graphics, logos, the assessment algorithm, report templates, and blog articles — is owned by Where to Emigrate or its licensors and is protected by copyright and intellectual property laws.

You may share links to our blog articles and reference our content with proper attribution. You may not reproduce, modify, or distribute substantial portions of our content without written permission.

Licence grant: When you purchase a report or guide, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the purchased content for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. This licence does not include the right to:

  • Resell, sublicence, distribute, or share the report with third parties
  • Reproduce or republish the report or substantial portions thereof
  • Use the report content to build competing products or services
  • Remove or alter any copyright notices, watermarks, or attribution

Anti-piracy: Each report is uniquely identified with a report ID and is linked to the purchasing email address. We monitor for unauthorised distribution of our content. If we detect that a report has been shared, redistributed, or published without authorisation, we reserve the right to revoke the licence, disable download access, and pursue legal remedies including claims for damages under applicable copyright law.

7. Data Protection

Your use of the Site is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal data.

8. Accuracy and Updates

We cover residency and citizenship programmes across 100+ countries and conduct a full review of all programmes every quarter. However, immigration laws and policies change frequently — sometimes between review cycles. We cannot guarantee that all information is current at any given time.

Between reviews, some programmes may reflect outdated thresholds, fees, or requirements. New programmes may not yet be included, and existing ones may have been modified or suspended. Items marked with [VERIFY-ANNUALLY] or [LAST REVIEWED: date] indicate data points subject to periodic change. Always verify current requirements directly with the relevant government authority before taking action.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Where to Emigrate and its directors, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Site, reliance on our content, or purchase of reports.

Our total liability for any claim related to the Site or reports shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or €100, whichever is greater.

9A. Force Majeure

We shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performing our obligations where such failure or delay results from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to: natural disasters, pandemics, war, terrorism, government actions, sanctions, embargoes, labour disputes, power failures, internet or telecommunications failures, cyberattacks, or failures of third-party service providers (including payment processors, hosting services, and email delivery services).

9B. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Where to Emigrate, its directors, officers, employees, agents, and affiliates from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use of or reliance on the Site, reports, or content; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) your violation of any applicable law or regulation; or (d) any immigration, tax, or financial decisions you make based on information from our Site.

10. Third-Party Links

Our content may contain links to third-party websites (government immigration portals, embassy sites, service providers). We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of third-party sites. Links do not imply endorsement. Some links may generate a commission at no cost to you.

11. Modifications

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via the Site or email. Your continued use of the Site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

12. Governing Law, Jurisdiction, and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of Portugal. Any disputes arising from your use of the Site shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Lisbon, Portugal, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection rules that may apply in your country of residence.

Informal resolution: Before initiating any formal dispute resolution, you agree to contact us at hello@wheretoemigrate.io and allow 30 days to resolve the matter informally.

Arbitration (non-EU users): If you are located outside the European Economic Area and the matter is not resolved informally, you agree that any dispute shall be resolved through binding arbitration administered under the rules of the Lisbon Arbitration Centre (Centro de Arbitragem de Lisboa), conducted in English. The arbitrator's decision shall be final and binding. Judgement on the award may be entered in any court of competent jurisdiction.

Class action waiver (non-EU users): To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, you agree that any dispute resolution proceedings will be conducted on an individual basis only, and not as part of any class, consolidated, or representative action. If this class action waiver is found to be unenforceable, the entirety of this arbitration provision shall be void.

EU consumers: If you are a consumer in the EU, you retain all rights afforded to you under mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence, including access to your local courts and the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform at https://ec.europa.eu/odr.

14. DMCA Takedown Procedure

We respect the intellectual property rights of others. If you believe that content on our Site infringes your copyright, you may submit a takedown notice under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) or equivalent legislation in your jurisdiction.

Your notice must include:

  • A description of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed
  • The URL or location of the allegedly infringing material on our Site
  • Your contact information (name, address, email, phone number)
  • A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner
  • A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on behalf of the owner
  • Your physical or electronic signature
