Can a carer/companion accompany the patient? Who qualifies and what separate/linked permission applies?
A spouse or recognised partner (which may include an official cohabitant or a common-law spouse) of someone receiving medical treatment in Malta that is expected to last for an extended period of time, and for which the presence of his immediate family is advisable, may be considered under Humanitarian Grounds. This is a separate temporary permit category, not the Health Purposes permit. The policy does not specify a companion category under Health Purposes itself.
