Which family relationships qualify?

The route is for a child seeking indefinite leave to enter Jersey as the child of a parent, parents or a relative present and settled in Jersey or being admitted for settlement. Qualifying circumstances include both parents settled or being admitted, one parent settled and the other being admitted or dead, or one parent settled who has had sole responsibility for the child's upbringing.

The requirements to be met by a person seeking indefinite leave to enter Jersey as the child of a parent, parents or a relative present and settled or being admitted for settlement in Jersey are that he: (i) is seeking leave to enter to accompany or join a parent, parents or a relative in one of the following circumstances: (a) both parents are present and settled in Jersey; or (b) both parents are being admitted on the same occasion for settlement; or (c) one parent is present and settled in Jersey and the other is being admitted on the same occasion for settlement; or (d) one parent is present and settled in Jersey or being admitted on the same occasion for settlement and the other parent is dead; or (e) one parent is present and settled in Jersey or being admitted on the same occasion for settlement and has had sole responsibility for the child’s upbringing; or

Who may sponsor or bring the family member, and what immigration/citizenship status must that person hold?

The sponsoring parent(s) must be present and settled in Jersey or being admitted on the same occasion for settlement: both parents settled; both being admitted together; one settled and the other being admitted at the same time; or one settled/being admitted and the other parent dead.

What is important for proving marriage, partnership, parentage, custody, dependency or another qualifying relationship?

Where only one parent (or a relative) is involved, the case must show that the settled parent has had sole responsibility for the child's upbringing, or that serious and compelling family or other considerations make exclusion undesirable and suitable care arrangements have been made. The child must not be leading an independent life, must be unmarried and must not have formed an independent family unit.
