Is this for a founder, startup entrepreneur, self-employed person, freelancer, company owner or another business profile?

For a person entering Jersey to establish themselves in business, by taking over or joining an existing business as a partner or director, or by establishing a new business. A business means an enterprise as a sole trader, a partnership, or a company, limited partnership or other body registered or established in Jersey.

What must actually exist or be demonstrated: business plan, company, innovation, clients, contracts, economic activity, job creation or other substance?

The applicant must have the necessary Ministerial approval, and the applicant or the existing business must have obtained any licence required under the Control of Housing and Work (Jersey) Law 2012.

What investment, capital, income, revenue, funding or viability evidence is central to this pathway?

At the indefinite-leave stage, a person established in business must have spent 5 continuous years in Jersey in this capacity, still be engaged in the business, and submit audited accounts for the first 4 years of trading and management accounts for the 5th year. The official source does not state an investment, capital or income minimum for entry or extension.

What approval/application sequence applies, how long is the status granted, how is it renewed, and what longer-term residence direction is officially stated?

An extension to remain in business may be granted for up to 3 years at a time, with a condition restricting employment, if the applicant entered with valid entry clearance as a businessman and met the Ministerial approval and licence requirements. Indefinite leave to remain may be granted after a continuous 5 years in Jersey in this capacity while still engaged in the business, with audited accounts for the first 4 years of trading and management accounts for the 5th year, Appendix KoLL (English and life in the UK and Jersey), no general-grounds refusal and no breach of immigration laws (overstaying of 28 days or less disregarded).
