Is this for a founder, startup entrepreneur, self-employed person, freelancer, company owner or another business profile?

This Beijing private-affairs residence permit carries an entrepreneur endorsement. It covers graduates of Chinese universities starting a Beijing business, foreigners planning investment/innovative enterprises, key-sector innovation teams and specified Chinese-origin entrepreneurs.

Evidence follows the branch: graduate and authority innovation certificates; a planning applicant personal application and business plan with the listed IP/investment or host support; team authority recommendation plus employment contract/guarantee; or the Chinese-origin entrepreneurship evidence.

    5. Foreigners who meet the first requirement shall also submit a personal application or unit application, certificate of graduation from their university, and certificate related to innovation and entrepreneurship issued by the relevant competent authorities.

What investment, capital, income, revenue, funding or viability evidence is central to this pathway?

For the planning-investment/innovative-enterprise branch, the published requirement is a domestic personal deposit certificate or bank statement of more than CNY 50,000. It is not stated as a minimum investment for all four branches. Host organisations provide prior-year tax evidence; a local partner provides the specified recent no-criminal commitment.

What business/self-employed activity may the holder conduct? Are there important restrictions? What is the family position where clearly stated?

The residence endorsement concerns the substantiated entrepreneurial purpose in Beijing. It is not a blanket waiver of work permission or business licensing; employment still requires the prescribed authorisation. Qualifying close relatives use the separate dependent-residence rules.

    For foreigners entering China with S1 visa for the purpose of visiting family, the applicant shall submit a letter explaining the kinship (spouse, parents, spouse's parents, minor children below 18) from and the residence permit of the person being visited. A residence permit with a validity period consistent with that of the residence permit of the person being visited in China may be issued.

What approval/application sequence applies, how long is the status granted, how is it renewed, and what longer-term residence direction is officially stated?

Applications are made to Beijing public security exit-entry with the branch-specific documents, passport, application/photo and local accommodation registration. Complete applications are listed as seven working days. Renewal is applied for 30 days before expiry with continuing-purpose evidence; the page does not state one universal initial duration for all branches.
