What achievements, recognition, awards, publications, reputation or other evidence establishes the required level?
Extraordinary ability must be shown by sustained national or international acclaim, or, in the motion picture and television industry, a record of extraordinary achievement. In science, education, business or athletics this means being one of the small percentage who have arisen to the very top of the field; in the arts it means distinction, evidenced by skill and recognition substantially above that ordinarily encountered (prominent, renowned, leading, or well-known in the field); in motion pictures or television, skill and recognition significantly above that ordinarily encountered (recognised as outstanding, notable or leading). The record must include at least three different types of documentation listed in the regulations, or comparable evidence in certain circumstances, and must as a whole meet the relevant standards.
