How does the application work at a high level, what rights does the family member receive, how long does the status last, and how can it become independent or longer-term where officially stated?

The application is submitted in person on condition of legal stay or temporary residence in Ukraine; for valid reasons (e.g. sickness, natural disaster) it may be sent by mail or submitted by another person with notarised authorisation; for minors it is submitted by the legal representative. The immigration permit is valid for one year; after arrival the immigrant must apply for a permanent residence permit no later than 15 working days before the long-stay visa (or permitted stay) expires; the permanent residence permit is processed within 15 working days and issued for 10 years. Rights are not stated.
