For the relevant traveller scope, is a visa, electronic authorisation, visa on arrival or no advance visa normally required?

Under the general entry rules, nationals of the countries on the official visa-exempt list do not need a visa; citizens of other countries must obtain a visa, unless they are lawful residents of the United Kingdom, United States or Canada or hold a valid visa for travel to one of those countries.
