Which athletes, coaches, technicians, officials or other sports professionals does the pathway cover?

The embassy identifies SP1 and SP2 sports visas. Article 10(6)(6) covers foreign and stateless participants, organisers of sporting events, persons travelling for sports cooperation and accompanying persons. The cited provisions do not allocate individual professions such as player, coach or referee between SP1 and SP2.

What club, federation, governing body or recognised organisation relationship is required?

Article 10(6)(6) permits a written or electronic application by the foreign or stateless applicant or by the hosting legal entity or individual in Turkmenistan, with documents substantiating the sporting nature of the trip. It does not itself establish that every case must be sponsored by a club or federation. Article 10(7) leaves the detailed application and document requirements to the State Migration Service.

What sporting level, achievement, professional status, recognition or other sports-specific condition distinguishes the pathway?

No sporting level, achievement or professional-status threshold is published for the SP visa. The distinguishing condition is documentary proof of the sporting nature of the trip: participation in a sports event, organisation of sports events, or sports cooperation.

What sporting/work activity is permitted, what club or activity restrictions exist, and what is the family position?

The husband/wife, minor children and dependent parents of a foreign citizen staying in Turkmenistan on a sports visa can be issued a family visa (FM). Permitted sporting/work activities and club restrictions for SP holders are not published.

How long does the status last, how does renewal or change of club work where stated, and what longer-term residence possibilities exist?

No fixed SP visa duration is published; visa fees are set by length of stay (up to 10 days, 20 days, 1 month, then per additional month). Extension is done by the State Migration Service only while the holder is in Turkmenistan, applying with the required documents before the visa expires. Change of club and longer-term residence are not addressed.
