What exact status does accumulated residence lead to?

The status is the permanent work permit, one of the five work permit card types. A foreigner with a permanent work permit benefits from all the rights provided by a long-term residence permit and the rights granted to Turkish citizens, except for the rules in special laws, without prejudice to acquired social security rights and subject to the relevant legislation.

Limits of the record
  • The citations of this box describe the status and its rights, not the accumulated residence or work period that leads to it (that sentence is cited in this route's R3 answer).

What qualifying residence period is required and when does the period begin?

The route requires either at least eight years of legal work permit or a long-term residence permit; the long-term residence permit itself requires at least eight years of continuous residence in Türkiye, counting half of student residence permit time and the full time of other residence permits. The official source does not state when the eight-year period begins.

Limits of the record
  • SHARED TEXT: the first citation is also cited in full by the closed r3 (and r5 of Independent work permit, other route); the verifier stated the period belongs in R2. Orchestrator to decide.
  • When the eight-year period begins is not stated.

Which types of residence count fully, partially or not at all where the official rules specify this?

The two qualifying bases stated are a long-term residence permit in Türkiye, or a legal work permit for at least eight years. The official source does not break the eight years down by permit type.

Limits of the record
  • This page does not state which work permit types count towards the eight years, nor how interruptions between permits are treated.

What absence/continuity rules affect accumulation of the qualifying residence period?

The checked official sources did not provide enough route-specific evidence to confirm the absence and continuity rules for the qualifying period.

Limits of the record
  • Searched csgb work permit types, documents issued, evaluation criteria and PMM residence pages for absence, continuity, interruption or time-abroad rules applying to the permanent work permit basis; none found. Document renewal every five years belongs to R5 and is not an absence rule.

What other major conditions apply, how is the status obtained, and what renewal, document-validity, retention or loss rules matter?

The permit itself is issued without an end date and without being bound to a specific employer, but the document must be renewed every five years before it expires: the renewal application is made within six months before the expiry of the five-year period from the start date and in any case before the expiry date. The holder benefits from all rights of a long-term residence permit and from the rights granted to Turkish citizens except under special laws, but does not have the right to elect, be elected or hold public office, and is not obliged to perform military service.
