What exactly is this: asylum, temporary protection, humanitarian admission, resettlement or another protection mechanism?

The documented mechanism is UNHCR asylum/refugee protection activity, not an ordinary immigration visa or open resettlement application. UNHCR’s June 2025 report says Tunisia lacked a national asylum framework and that the Government suspended new asylum-seeker registration and formal UNHCR status determination inJune 2024. Its July 2026 update documents services to already registered people, including card renewals, but does not announce general new intake reopening. The current intake position beyond those dated statements must be confirmed with UNHCR.
