What exactly is this: asylum, temporary protection, humanitarian admission, resettlement or another protection mechanism?

The Ministry of Home Affairs FAQ describes an in-country asylum-seeker reception process: after arrival, an asylum seeker reports to a government office and is directed to the Refugee Department or an authorised officer for instructions. The FAQ does not set out the application form, legal decision stages or guarantee of protection.
