Limits of the record
  • Searched the BOCA resident-visa page for salary, pocket money, accommodation, meals, reimbursement or permission for other work: none stated. The bar on changing into this basis from visa-free/landing/other visitor entry is a change-of-status rule (R5), not money/work.

How long can they stay, can they change host/activity, can family accompany, and can the status be extended?

The holder must obtain an Alien Resident Certificate within 30 days after arrival and a re-entry permit within 15 days of resident-visa issuance. The official source does not state a standard visa duration, whether the host can be changed, a family rule or an extension route.
