Limits of the record
  • Searched the BOCA page for income, funds, accommodation, insurance or maintenance requirements: none stated. The health-certificate rule on the page is a medical document requirement, not a support obligation, so it is not placed here.

How does the application work at a high level, what rights does the family member receive, how long does the status last, and how can it become independent or longer-term where officially stated?

Applicants outside Taiwan are advised to apply for the Resident Visa at an ROC overseas mission; processing inside Taiwan takes 8 work days. After entering on or obtaining the Resident Visa, the holder must apply at NIA local service centres for an Alien Resident Certificate within 30 days from the day after arrival and a Re-entry Permit within 30 days from visa issuance; the duration of stay is noted on the ARC. The official source does not state work rights or a path to independent or permanent status.
