What exact status does accumulated residence lead to?

A temporary residence authorisation for exceptional circumstances on arraigo (rootedness) grounds, of the socio-training arraigo type. It is granted to foreign nationals who are in Spain and have economic, social, family, work or training ties with the place where they live, provided they meet the requirements of Articles 126 and 127.

Which types of residence count fully, partially or not at all where the official rules specify this?

Time spent in Spain while an international-protection application is being processed up to a final administrative and, where applicable, judicial decision is expressly excluded from the two-year count. What absence/continuity rules affect accumulation of the qualifying residence period?

Presence in Spain must have been continuous for at least the two years before the application; time spent in Spain as an applicant for international protection, until a final administrative (and, where applicable, judicial) decision, does not count. b) Haber permanecido en territorio nacional de forma continuada durante, al menos, los dos años anteriores a la presentación de dicha solicitud. A estos efectos, cuando la persona extranjera haya sido solicitante de protección internacional, no será computable el tiempo de permanencia en España durante la tramitación de la solicitud de protección internacional hasta su resolución firme en sede administrativa, y, en su caso, judicial.

What other major conditions apply, how is the status obtained, and what renewal, document-validity, retention or loss rules matter?

The specific basis is enrolment in, or attendance at, specified study or training programmes, including certain compulsory-education provision for adults, or a commitment to undertake employment-service training for occupations on the official catalogue. A social-integration report in Spain is also required. The arraigo authorisation normally lasts one year; general requirements apply. The official source does not state the application procedure or the renewal, retention or loss rules.
