Which exceptional-talent, academic, scientific, artistic, technological, cultural or other profiles does the pathway target?

Researchers who hold a temporary residence permit for research work under Article 38 of ZTuj-2 or for research work on long-term transfer under Article 38.b, who have completed their research work in Slovenia and wish to stay to seek employment or self-employment (i.e. set up their own business).

What achievements, recognition, awards, publications, reputation or other evidence establishes the required level?

Proof from a Slovenian research organisation that the applicant's research work in Slovenia has been completed; if not yet issued, the administrative unit sets a deadline to submit it.

Is an employer, nominator, recognised body, peer group or government endorsement required?

A research organisation in Slovenia must provide proof of the completed research work; the application is filed in person at an administrative unit or by an authorised person.

Can the holder change employer, work independently, establish a business or conduct other professional activity? What is the family position?

Work may not be performed with this permit, only sought; on finding employment or becoming self-employed, an application for an appropriate new permit must be filed before expiry. Family: a researcher's family member residing in Slovenia with a valid family-member permit may apply to extend it for the same period as the researcher's permit.

What duration, renewal and accelerated or normal longer-term residence pathway is officially stated?

Valid for 9 months at most and cannot be extended; after expiry the holder must leave Slovenia unless another lawful basis of residence is arranged (e.g. a new permit for employment or self-employment applied for before expiry).
