Which travellers require a transit visa/permission and which officially documented exemptions are important?
ECOWAS citizens need no visa and only a valid passport, identity card or an ETC to transit through Sierra Leone; non-ECOWAS citizens require a visa in addition to a valid passport to transit through the country.

If you are an ECOWAS citizen, no visa is required to travel to Sierra Leone. All that is required is a valid passport, an Identity card or an ETC to travel to or transit through Sierra Leone.
