How does the application work at a high level, what rights does the family member receive, how long does the status last, and how can it become independent or longer-term where officially stated?

A Seychelles citizen applies for the permit for a spouse or minor child who is not a Seychelles citizen and is to reside with them in Seychelles; the application form must be accompanied by supporting documents. A processing fee of SCR 1,000 applies, and the permit fee is SCR 1,000 per year. The permit does not allow the holder to work; to work, a Gainful Occupation Permit should be applied for. The permit ceases to be valid if the holder fails to enter Seychelles within twelve months from the date of issue, is absent from Seychelles for more than twelve months, is in breach of its conditions, is convicted of an offence against the Immigration Laws, or is deported. The official source does not state how long the permit is granted for or any route to independent or longer-term status.
