Is this for a founder, startup entrepreneur, self-employed person, freelancer, company owner or another business profile?

This route is for an independent professional: a self-employed individual, i.e. a sole proprietor registered for performing activities abroad, who performs work on the territory of Serbia on the grounds of a contract directly concluded with a local employer.

What must actually exist or be demonstrated: business plan, company, innovation, clients, contracts, economic activity, job creation or other substance?

The applicant must provide a decision on registration of the independent professional (registration abroad); a concluded contract with the employer or end user of services containing a time limit for performing the work; a diploma/certificate of appropriate higher education or technical qualifications from an accredited institution; a certificate of work experience in the profession (for the single permit, work experience in the line of work for at least three years); and the Serbian employer's registration excerpt.

What investment, capital, income, revenue, funding or viability evidence is central to this pathway?

No investment, capital or income minimum is listed for this ground. Proof of means of subsistence and proof of health insurance are not submitted by a foreign citizen whose request is on the basis of employment; the documented viability evidence is the service contract with the employer or end user that must contain a deadline for performing the work.

Limits of the record
  • The sources do not state explicitly that no minimum income or revenue applies; they are only silent on it.

What business/self-employed activity may the holder conduct? Are there important restrictions? What is the family position where clearly stated?

The holder is a self-employed person (sole proprietor registered abroad) who performs work in Serbia on the basis of a contract concluded directly with a local employer. With a single permit, the foreign citizen has the right to stay and work in Serbia during its validity; an extension can be refused if the previous single permit was not used in accordance with the basis for which it was issued. The official source does not state the family position.

What approval/application sequence applies, how long is the status granted, how is it renewed, and what longer-term residence direction is officially stated?

The checked official sources did not provide enough route-specific evidence to confirm the approval sequence, duration, renewal and longer-term residence direction.

Limits of the record
  • The previous revision (proven) stated that permanent residence follows after three years of qualifying continuous lawful residence. Neither 'three years' nor '3 years' nor any permanent-residence timeline for this route appears in either checked capture (welcometoserbia.gov.rs/residence-and-work-permit; welcometoserbia.gov.rs/d-visa-purpose-of-stay-employment); the only literally supported fact was the unrelated 180-day Visa D employment limit and its single-permit continuation. That unsupported claim is withdrawn; this successor records only the evidence gap.

These are the answers currently recorded in the catalogue. A missing or partial answer is not an eligibility decision.
