What other major conditions apply, how is the status obtained, and what renewal, document-validity, retention or loss rules matter?

Applications are filed at the Civil Status Office only in November and December each year (applications outside those months are inadmissible), paying EUR 100,00 on filing. At most 20 residences are granted per year; if more applications are filed, the Office ranks them by seniority of the requirement in paragraph 1(b) and sends the first 20 for the Gendarmeria's mandatory opinion. Where the circumstances of Art. 17(1)-(2) of Law 118 of 28 June 2010 apply, the decision goes to the Permanent Parliamentary Commission for Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Immigration, Security and Public Order, Information. The applicant may apply to extend the residence to family members under the laws in force. Residence is revoked by the Civil Status Officer if habitual dwelling in San Marino has ceased for more than six months.
