Can family accompany? How long is the status granted and can it be renewed?

A Romanian long-stay D visa is granted for 90 days with one or multiple entries. The official source does not state the duration or renewal of the digital-nomad temporary residence status, or a route-specific family-accompaniment rule.

Limits of the record
  • The 90-day statement describes the visa period and entries, not the duration of the digital-nomad residence status.
  • The captured official material does not state a digital-nomad-specific family-accompaniment or renewal rule.

What immigration-relevant tax/residence information is officially stated, and what longer-term residence direction exists?

For the D/AS digital-nomad visa file, the official immigration material asks for a tax certificate and a fiscal-residence certificate from the competent authority of the applicant’s fiscal-residence country, confirming payment of due taxes and contributions and no registration for tax evasion or fraud as of application. This is a document requirement, not a ruling on Romanian tax residence or liability. The April 2026 law consolidation states the general path to long-term residence: a holder of temporary residence may apply after five continuous years, subject to Article 71’s conditions including absence limits, and Article 70’s express exclusions. Digital nomads are not expressly listed among those exclusions in this captured version; individual eligibility and any later amendments are not established by that silence.

Limits of the record
  • No captured source determines when a digital nomad becomes Romanian tax resident or owes a particular Romanian tax. The general long-term residence provisions do not promise this route a grant or establish all Article 71 conditions. The law PDF is consolidated only to April 2026; later amendments are not excluded.
