A diplomatic or service visa (DS) allowing entry, usually for a long-term stay, to holders of diplomatic or service passports who will exercise an official function as staff of foreign diplomatic missions and consular posts accredited in Romania.

The diplomatic or service visa is also granted to cohabiting family members and is valid for the whole mission period or per bilateral understandings. Residence conferred by a diplomatic or service visa does not lead to long-term residence. The official source does not state what happens when the official function ends.
