The applicant submits a written request in Portuguese addressed to the Minister of Justice, explaining how and why nationality was lost, signed before registry staff when filing or with a recognised signature if sent by post. It can be filed online through a representative (lawyer or solicitor), otherwise in person at the listed registry offices or the Portuguese consulate for the area of residence, or by post.
