Which family relationships qualify?
A third-country family member of a researcher who holds a residence permit for family reunification (and related residence document) or long-term visa marked "researcher" issued by the EU member state that issued the researcher's document, applying Directive (EU) 2016/801 (not Ireland or Denmark), and whose purpose is to reside with that researcher in Poland. The official source does not state which relatives count as family members.

the foreign national who is a family member of a researcher holds a residence permit for the purpose of family reunification and a residence document issued in connection with that permit, as referred to in Article 1(2)(a) of Regulation No. 1030/2002, issued by another Member State of the European Union that has issued to that researcher the residence document referred to in Article 1(2)(a) of Regulation No. 1030/2002, or a long-term visa, with the annotation “researcher”; the residence permit or visa was issued to the foreign national by another European Union Member State, including a non-Schengen country (i.e., Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia, Cyprus) applying the aforementioned Directive (EU) 2016/801 of the European Parliament and of the Council of May 11, 2016. (this therefore does not apply to residence permits issued by Ireland and Denmark, which are not bound by this directive).
