What is important for proving marriage, partnership, parentage, custody, dependency or another qualifying relationship?

Relationship proof depends on the link: spouse (no age limit, bond must subsist, marriage celebrated abroad) - marriage certificate; child (no age limit) - birth certificate of one parent proving natural-born Paraguayan status, or naturalisation letter; grandchild (under 18) - birth certificates of the parent and of the national; spouse of the national's child (marriage abroad) - marriage certificate, the spouse's birth certificate and the national's birth certificate. The applicant's own birth certificate must be visaed and legalised or apostilled.

What important financial, accommodation, insurance or maintenance responsibilities apply?

Applicants aged 0 to 17 fall into an autonomous 'Niños, Niñas y Adolescentes' (NNA) category that is exempt from proving economic solvency, because economic responsibility is assumed by the legal representative (parents or legal guardians). The official source does not state any financial, accommodation, insurance or maintenance requirement for adult family members.

Limits of the record
  • The page states no financial, accommodation, insurance or maintenance requirement for adult family members; silence is not confirmation that none applies.

How does the application work at a high level, what rights does the family member receive, how long does the status last, and how can it become independent or longer-term where officially stated?

The status is permanent residence obtained directly, without prior temporary residence; the carnet is definitive but must be renewed every 10 years. The procedure is personal and in person. Under the Migration Law, permanent residents lose that status if absent from Paraguay for more than 3 years without justifying the absence to the DNM. The official source does not state the rights the family member receives.
