Which family relationships qualify?

Qualifying relatives are the foreign spouses, children under 18 and parents of the temporary resident, and children aged over 18 up to 25 if they prove they are studying and economically dependent on their parents.

What is important for proving marriage, partnership, parentage, custody, dependency or another qualifying relationship?

Proof of kinship is required: a birth or marriage certificate, or record of guardianship or custody, as applicable; applicants of age and under 25 must provide certification of full-time regular studies and a certificate of single status (or a notarised sworn declaration of single status where the country does not issue one).

What important financial, accommodation, insurance or maintenance responsibilities apply?

The resident must prove sufficient economic solvency by one of: tax return with clearance showing minimum income of B/.850.00 per month; updated work letter with pay slip or Social Security record and work permit copy; or bank reference of no less than four medium figures.

How does the application work at a high level, what rights does the family member receive, how long does the status last, and how can it become independent or longer-term where officially stated?

The permit is granted for annual periods up to a total of six (6) years; for an extension (PPRT-FAM) the same requirements are submitted except the criminal record certificate and the cheques. The official source does not state the family member's rights or a path to independent or longer-term status.
