What exact activity, role or purpose qualifies?

The route is for authorities, ministers, rabbis, pastors, leaders or religious of other denominations or religious associations, designated to Panama with a specified mission.

What organisation, institution, religious body, charity, teacher or host must support the activity?

The applicant must belong to churches, missions or religious communities duly recognised by the Ministry of Government and registered with the Public Registry of Panama; a Public Registry certificate of legal personality showing the church/mission is registered and its legal representative is required.

What proves the placement, role, affiliation, experience or cultural/religious/voluntary activity?

A letter from abroad by the council, church, denomination or association stating its hierarchy, the designation of the applicant to Panama and the mission, and the number of churches/missions in Panama; qualifying title or studies if applicable; the organisation statutes with the religious promotion plan (time, place, activities, beneficiaries, objectives); and a copy of the ID card issued by the church or religious group.

Can the person receive salary, pocket money, accommodation, meals or reimbursement? Can they undertake other work?

The mission representative in Panama must issue a letter of responsibility stating the resources on which the applicant will live, their amount and periodicity (whether from foreign sources or paid in Panama), and the mission's commitment to cover repatriation costs; an income-tax return or Social Security (Caja de Seguro Social) record is required whenever the applicant receives Panamanian-source income. The official source does not state whether other (non-religious) work is permitted.

How long can they stay, can they change host/activity, can family accompany, and can the status be extended?

After an initial stage, permanent residence is requested with the same documents except the criminal record certificate and the cheque. The official source does not state the length of the initial stage, change of host or family accompaniment.
