What organisation, institution, religious body, charity, teacher or host must support the activity?

A host organisation is required: welfare organisations, health organisations, nonprofits, religious institutions or other philanthropic bodies. The host applies to COGAT while the volunteer is abroad and must give a written undertaking to take responsibility for the volunteer's departure at the end of the permit.

What proves the placement, role, affiliation, experience or cultural/religious/voluntary activity?

An official Palestinian Authority invitation (application at least 60 days in advance); a permit form with a CV/family-connections questionnaire and a declaration of the rationale, in which the Inviter states any past visits and where, for how long and for what purpose the volunteering will take place; and verified certification from the country of origin, translated into English, Arabic or Hebrew, that the volunteer has no criminal record.

Can the person receive salary, pocket money, accommodation, meals or reimbursement? Can they undertake other work?

No pay: only pocket money, sleeping quarters, or enrichment studies and expenses. The Inviter must declare the volunteer is not salaried; a scholarship covering living expenses up to the equivalent of 9,000 dollars per year is, as a rule, not considered salary. The permit does not allow employment.

How long can they stay, can they change host/activity, can family accompany, and can the status be extended?

Volunteering may not exceed a continuous term of 12 months; a volunteer may return only after a year has passed since the permit expired, on a new application (the authorised official may exceptionally approve up to one year more on documented special grounds). A transfer to another host organisation needs a new application by the new host, and cumulative residence as a volunteer may never exceed 12 months. The official source does not state whether family may accompany.
