Extension is granted on a six-monthly basis with one re-entry to Afghans residing in Pakistan since long ("since long" meaning two or more entry visas/extensions), after Ministry of Interior approval; longer extensions up to one year with multiple entries may be granted by the Ministry of Interior on a need basis on security-agency recommendation/clearance. No visa category can be changed while in Pakistan.
