Which family relationships qualify?

This Royal Oman Police family joining visa covers two distinct relationships: an expatriate employee's spouse and children below 21 years, and, separately, the foreign wife of an Omani citizen.

Who may sponsor or bring the family member, and what immigration/citizenship status must that person hold?

The sponsor is either the expatriate employee (for their own spouse and children) or the Omani citizen husband (for his foreign wife, at his own request). For the expatriate-employee route, the expatriate spouse must be in a senior job by GCC standards.

What is important for proving marriage, partnership, parentage, custody, dependency or another qualifying relationship?

For an Omani national's foreign wife, the relationship is proved with a copy of the marriage certificate authenticated by the wife's country's embassy and by the Oman Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with a Ministry of Interior certificate validating the marriage. For an expatriate employee bringing in a spouse, a copy of the marriage certificate authenticated by the Oman Ministry of Foreign Affairs is required.

What important financial, accommodation, insurance or maintenance responsibilities apply?

The sponsoring expatriate employee must live in a residence rented in their own name or in the name of their employer, and must be paid a monthly salary of not less than RO 600. Supporting documents must show the employee's job title and salary, either through a Ministry of Manpower-approved form or a bank statement of salary transfers for not less than six months, and a copy of the residential lease agreement or other proof of the place of residence.
