Applicants must be visiting on a privately owned super yacht; show at least NZD $1,000 per person per month, or NZD $400 if living on board a yacht or accommodation is already paid; if leaving by commercial transport, a travel ticket or proof of enough money to leave; if leaving on a private craft, evidence of ownership and adequate insurance against major damage (owners and dependants) or a letter from the owner or captain (crew and passengers); and declare they will pay their own health care costs.

Where/how is permission obtained when required, and under what important circumstances can a stay be extended or changed?

From 1 October 2026 applications must be submitted through Immigration New Zealand's enhanced Immigration Online system; on arrival the holder must present to an Immigration Officer at an Immigration Control Area within 72 hours to apply for entry permission; further visas can be applied for to stay up to 12 months.
