For the relevant traveller scope, is a visa, electronic authorisation, visa on arrival or no advance visa normally required?

No visa is required for: nationals of EEA countries (Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein) or Switzerland; nationals of countries with which France has visa-exemption agreements (list on Legifrance); holders of a valid residence permit or long-stay visa issued by France or a Schengen country; recognised refugees, stateless persons or persons without nationality residing in a Schengen State; and cruise passengers, for the port call, holding a valid residence permit from an EU/EEA State, Switzerland, Andorra, Monaco, San Marino, Canada, Japan or the United States. Others need a valid short-stay visa expressly valid for New Caledonia.
