Income must be independent, sustainable and sufficient. When applying for a residence permit for an adopted or foster child, the income of the sponsor's partner may also be counted if they are married or (registered) partners living together in the Netherlands and the partner is a Dutch citizen or has a Dutch residence permit; added up, incomes must at least equal the required amount for that residence permit. Exemptions for a sponsor include receiving state pension or having reached the state pension age (AOW). The specific required amount for this permit, accommodation and insurance are not stated in the official sources.
