You apply to the IND for a single permit (GVVA). This permit allows you to live and work in the Netherlands.

You work is necessary to reach the goals of the organisation.

Extra requirements for monks, nuns or missionaries Are you going to work as a religious education teacher or minister? In addition to the requirements for a spiritual counsellor, these requirements also apply:

You are going to work for a religious or ideological organisation. This organisation meets several extra requirements about the solvency, continuity and reliability of the organisation.

The bylaws of the organisation say that you must take a vow of poverty. You have done this and you have written proof.

You are not employed by the organisation.

Or you have not taken a vow of poverty and the organisation provides for your maintenance. The organisation pays for your stay and insurances, or supplements these costs up to the monthly legal gross minimum salary per month. This applies only if you do not have sufficient income yourself. You state that you will not rely on public funds.

The additional document says for which employer you are allowed to work. It also sets out the conditions under which you are allowed to work.

The period of validity of the single permit is a maximum of 3 year. Have you had a valid residence permit for work for 5 years? Then the single permit is valid for a maximum of 5 years.

If you change employers, your old employer must notify the IND as required. Your employer will deregister you, but it is your responsibility to check with your employer that you have been deregistered. Your new employer must apply for a new residence permit.
