What maximum stay, rolling-period rule, validity and entry rules apply?

Up to 30 days without a permit; for a visit over 30 days a permit may be issued for an additional period of up to 60 days. Citizens and nationals of the US (during the Compact's effective period), the Marshall Islands and Palau need no permit for a visit of up to 365 days. A noncitizen who remains as a s.103(1) visitor for one year or more becomes a habitual resident and may then be present only for 30-day visits or under another permit category.

A permit, where needed, is applied for to the President in the form and manner he prescribes. The immigration status of a visitor entering under s.103(1) cannot be changed during the stay.
