What other major conditions apply, how is the status obtained, and what renewal, document-validity, retention or loss rules matter?

The holder applies at INM offices with a passport, a valid temporary resident card and proof of the fee, and must expressly state in the application that the change is requested on the four-year basis; INM verifies the four years and may cancel temporary residence on the legal grounds. The permanent authorisation is indefinite, except for minors (1 year for under-3s, 4 years for ages 3 to 18). The holder must keep notifying changes of civil status, nationality, address or workplace.
