What is important for proving marriage, partnership, parentage, custody, dependency or another qualifying relationship?

The marriage may be proved by a biometric marriage certificate issued by ANRPTS, or by a court decision confirming the marriage, together with a travel document valid for more than six months, or by a foreign marriage certificate certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad.

Limits of the record
  • Searched for financial, accommodation, insurance or maintenance duties for the Mauritanian spouse. The only support text (procedures.gov.mr 1440) is the host attestation for invited foreigners, a different route.

How does the application work at a high level, what rights does the family member receive, how long does the status last, and how can it become independent or longer-term where officially stated?

The biometric resident card is personal and valid for one (1) to five (5) years; foreigners wishing to settle must apply at least 15 days before their visa or entry authorisation expires, and establishment, replacement or renewal requests are made in person at a CAR/Citizens' Reception Centre or remotely through the Houwiyeti system. The official source does not state the spouse's work rights or a path to independent or longer-term status.

These are the answers currently recorded in the catalogue. A missing or partial answer is not an eligibility decision.
