What exact status does accumulated residence lead to?

The status is a temporary residence authorisation, which for non-immigrant foreigners is issued as a residence visa (visa de séjour) placed in the passport.

Limits of the record
  • This is a temporary status required after 3 months' presence, not a status earned by accumulated residence.

What qualifying residence period is required and when does the period begin?

Any foreigner over 18 must obtain the temporary residence authorisation once three months have passed since entering Mali; the period runs from entry. Applications for stays of six months or more are made after entry, to the immigration authority.

Limits of the record
  • The question's 'accumulated residence' idea does not fit: three months is a trigger to regularise, not a qualifying period.

Which types of residence count fully, partially or not at all where the official rules specify this?

Answer not available

What absence/continuity rules affect accumulation of the qualifying residence period?

The residence visa lapses if the holder leaves Mali for more than six consecutive months.

Limits of the record
  • Loss rule, not an accumulation rule.

What other major conditions apply, how is the status obtained, and what renewal, document-validity, retention or loss rules matter?

The residence visa is valid for at most one year and renewable. It is granted only if the foreigner proves he or she can live on their own resources and undertakes not to do professional work that needs authorisation. The application needs a valid passport, a criminal record extract under 3 months old and a medical certificate under 2 months old. The holder must leave when it expires unless it is renewed; a stamp duty is due on issue and renewal.

Limits of the record
  • The law text states renewability on a separate line ('Il est renouvelable.') that appears several times and is not cited; renewal is supported by decree arts. 26-27.

These are the answers currently recorded in the catalogue. A missing or partial answer is not an eligibility decision.
