The applicant needs a passport or travel document valid for at least six months and must have been staying in Malaysia on a valid long-term pass; the application must be sponsored by a Malaysian aged 21 or above (in Sabah and Sarawak, by a Malaysian citizen of Sabah or Sarawak origin), and both sponsor and applicant must be present when documents are submitted at the Immigration office.
