Holders of a valid Myanmar passport are exempt from visa requirements for short-term social visits to Malaysia, effective 1 October 2025.

What short-visit purposes does this route cover?

This exemption covers social visits. The current FAQ does not turn it into permission to work, study or reside, and treats employment and study as purposes which may require prior Visa With Reference approval.

Valid eVISA printout or Digital eVISA (eVISA Note). Boarding Pass, ticket or arrival passport (if applicable). Confirmed returned flight ticket (if applicable). Proof of paid accommodation. Other supporting documents.

Where/how is permission obtained when required, and under what important circumstances can a stay be extended or changed?

A qualifying 14-day social visit does not require an advance visa. For the alternative visa channel, applications are made through official MYVISA before entry. A Short-Term Social Visit Pass extension may be considered for special circumstances such as illness, accident or war at home, with supporting evidence, personal attendance, passport, IMM.55 and return or onward-travel evidence; it is discretionary.
