Where/how is permission obtained when required, and under what important circumstances can a stay be extended or changed?

No prior visa application is required when all waiver conditions are met; the traveller submits the MDAC and presents the required documents for border screening. The general Social Visit Pass extension process allows special consideration with documentary proof, in-person passport/IMM.55 submission and a confirmed departure ticket; it is not an automatic extension of the Indian waiver.
