Applications are made to the Stay Subdivision of the Residence and Stay Affairs Department, free of charge. Special Authorization to Stay for family reunion is valid for a maximum of 2 years and can be renewed for the same or a shorter period, but may not exceed the validity of the Macao resident’s identity card. Holders granted it for over 90 days must declare their Macao addresses and report changes within 45 days. According to Article 17 of Administrative Regulation No. 38/2021, Special Authorization to Stay for the purpose of family reunion is valid for a maximum of 2 years. The Authorization can be renewed for the same or a shorter length of time. The expiry date of the Authorization should not exceed the validity of the Macao resident’s identity card.

According to Article 33 of Law No. 16/2021, persons granted Special Authorization to Stay for over 90 days are required to notify the Residence and Stay Affairs Department of the Public Security Police Force of their contact address and habitual residence address in Macao (except for non-residents whose status is defined in Items 1-3, Term 1, Article 32 of the same law). A notification should be made to the Residence and Stay Affairs Department within 45 days from the date of change of the contact address and habitual residence address.
