For the relevant traveller scope, is a visa, electronic authorisation, visa on arrival or no advance visa normally required?
Persons not exempted from a visa or Prior Authorization to Enter can apply in advance for a Macao visa through Chinese diplomatic missions. Since 1 July 2010, nationals of Bangladesh, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Vietnam must apply for a Macao visa in advance and cannot obtain visa-upon-arrival.

Persons who are not exempted from a ‘visa’ or ‘Prior Authorization to Enter’ [Note: Please refer to the Persons Exempted from a ‘Visa’ or ‘Prior Authorization to Enter’ by Law] can apply for a ‘visa’ for the Macao Special Administrative Region, but not a ‘visa-upon-arrival’ or ‘Prior Authorization to Enter’, in advance through the diplomatic missions of China or other representative offices accredited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China.

Starting from 1 July 2010, nationals of the following 6 countries are required to apply for a Macao visa in advance through a diplomatic mission of China or other representative offices accredited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China. They cannot apply for Authorization to Enter and Stay (so-called ‘visa-upon-arrival’) at the immigration checkpoint upon arrival at Macao.
