    - Both must not have a criminal record. - Both the sponsor and the sponsored person must not have any outstanding debt enforcement proceedings registered in Liechtenstein or in their last country of residence. - Both the person joining and the person to be joined must not be dependent on care. - To ensure that no social assistance is claimed, a guarantee (with place of jurisdiction Vaduz) from a bank based in an EEA country must be provided. The amount of the bank guarantee, which must be issued to the person moving to Switzerland, is a minimum of CHF 84,000 and a maximum of CHF 156,000. How does the application work at a high level, what rights does the family member receive, how long does the status last, and how can it become independent or longer-term where officially stated?

There is no entitlement to the permit; work rights follow Art. 42 PFZG (family members may work); children from earlier relationships cannot claim family reunification; the permit is lost if the sponsor leaves, and revoked if the relationship ends, within five years of the permit being granted. The official source does not state the permit's duration or a path to independent status.
