What other major conditions apply, how is the status obtained, and what renewal, document-validity, retention or loss rules matter?

A residence visa allows the holder to stay in Libya for the period and purpose stated in it. Within one month of the grant the holder must apply to the General Directorate of Passports and Nationality or one of its branches or offices for a residence card and show it to competent officials on request; the card's data and validity, by type of residence, are set by the executive regulation. The residence visa may be cancelled at any time, by decision of the Director General of Passports and Nationality, if the foreigner threatens state security, economy, public health or morals or is a burden on the state, is convicted of certain offences, breaches the conditions of the visa, or if the reason for which it was granted ceases.
