What exactly is the official special programme/status and why does it exist?

The Resident Permit is an official document (card) that grants foreign nationals the right to reside in Liberia for a fixed or indefinite length of time beyond the visa or other entry permit on which they originally entered.

What sponsor, authority, nomination, certification, evidence or other step must occur before the status can be obtained?

Apply online at rp.lis.gov.lr by completing, submitting and paying for the application; after payment, book an in-person appointment with the Liberia Immigration Services for biometric enrolment and physical verification of the original documents uploaded online; LIS then reviews the application and marks it Approved or Rejected.
