What exactly is this: asylum, temporary protection, humanitarian admission, resettlement or another protection mechanism?
Complementary protection recognition is an in-country protection status in Japan (distinct from Convention refugee recognition), started on 1 December 2023 to protect people such as those displaced by conflict who are not Convention "refugees" but need protection like refugees.
