What exactly is this: asylum, temporary protection, humanitarian admission, resettlement or another protection mechanism?

Not asylum: a special residence permit for social protection, labelled 'casi speciali', valid one year and renewable for one year or for the longer period needed for social-labour integration or for reasons of justice.
