What exact status does accumulated residence lead to?

A residence permit for non-seasonal employed work (fixed-term or open-ended); the seasonal permit itself lasts at most nine months.

See recorded sources

What qualifying residence period is required and when does the period begin?

The seasonal worker must have carried out regular work in Italy for at least three months and have an offer of a fixed-term or open-ended employment contract (Art. 24(10) of Legislative Decree 286/1998). The official source does not state from when the three-month period is counted.

Which types of residence count fully, partially or not at all where the official rules specify this?

What absence/continuity rules affect accumulation of the qualifying residence period?

The checked official sources did not provide enough route-specific evidence to confirm the absence and continuity rules for the qualifying period.

What other major conditions apply, how is the status obtained, and what renewal, document-validity, retention or loss rules matter?

Any fixed-term or open-ended employment offer of at least 20 hours per week qualifies (for domestic work, monthly pay not below the social allowance, EUR 538,69). Since DL 145/2024 conversions are outside the flow-decree quotas, at any time of year and without numerical limit. The application is filed online by the permit holder (or an accredited body such as a patronato) through the Ministry of the Interior portal, which routes it to the Sportello Unico per l'Immigrazione of the province of residence; SPID or CIE digital identity is needed. The official source does not state renewal, retention or loss rules for the converted permit.
